PIREP - Stark Avionics

Numerous people, I appreciate pireps from those with knowledge of shops you have (good or bad) and prefer to offer my experience for your deliberation over others as well. After a so-so experience throughout a recent avionics install, I found myself searching for an alternate avenue to the installing of a brand new transponder for ADS-B compliance. I called two local shops first. The tariff of one was very high that I actually busted out laughing on the telephone as though I were in a comedy bar. He was apparently much less amused as I. I was telling the story of my local quote to some friend in the airport and that he recommended that we call John Stark at Stark Avionics for any quote. In doing my required research just before calling John, I browsed Mooneyspace and BT for pireps on the shop. In doing so, I came across a completely terrible pirep on Stark Avionics. (Search in BT if you need to read it). This pirep caused me serious worry about if they should call Stark for a quote.

I posted a broad query for recommendations on an avionics shop and received another recommendation for Stark from another MSer (Oldguy). He and I spoke regarding his experience with Stark and i also decided to give John a phone call based on the two recommendations I coming from trusted sources. I was open with John regarding my concerns relating to the negative pirep on MS it comes with I became gun shy depending on the previous experience. As they always say, there are 2 sides to each and every story and John took his time and energy to explain his side if you ask me at all like me certain are experts in willing to employ other people who wants to phone him and need rest. Our conversation shifted in the pirep to pricing. John i discussed different equipment options, what can be perfect for my needs/wants along with the flat fee installed price for every option. We ultimately made a decision to install the Stratus ESGi for ADS-B in/out. John quoted me a soft price, but was at the start that this number could be slightly higher if your tray was riveted in (as numerous Mooneys are). I went along to manchester airport that night, took pictures and confirmed that my trays were attached with screws and forwarded those pictures to John. John responded in an exceedingly timely manner and confirmed the flat fee price for the equipment and install written so we scheduled the install date and pickup date. The plane was to be dropped off the Sunday after Thanksgiving. John said he'd have all the feaures ready by Tuesday, however i opted to schedule the pickup for Wednesday in case there was some snags in the process.
